The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for handling film blanks.
Particularly contemplated in the invention is the handling of foil blanks as used to make laminated glass.
Heretofore, larger formats of such films have been cut on cutting tables shaped similar to glass cutting tables to obtain the desired film blanks. The lifting of the foil blanks from the cutting table was carried out with the aid of suction plates.
The removal of the foil blanks with the help of suction plates and the laying of the foil blanks on glass is problematic because a completely uniform and wrinkle-free lifting is just as difficult to achieve as the uniform and wrinkle-free placement of the foil blanks on glass.
The invention has for its object to provide a method and an apparatus of the type mentioned, with the removal and placement of foil blanks with less effort, but more accurately and without errors is possible.
This object is achieved according to the invention with a method having the features of claim 1.
As far as the device according to the invention is concerned, the object of the invention is solved with the features of the independent device claim.
Preferred and advantageous embodiments of the method and the device according to the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.
In the method according to the invention and with the device according to the invention, the film blanks are replaced by .times..times..times..times..times..times..times..times..times..times..times..times..times..times..times..times..times.
Winding on a (take-off) roll (roller or drum) from the cutting table are removed (lifted off), there are no problems and a uniform and wrinkle-free slimming is achieved. Also, placing the foil blanks on the surface to which it is applied, e.g. on the surface of a glass sheet in the course of producing laminated glass, can be done by unwinding from the roll easily and wrinkle-free.
It is provided in the context of the invention that the effective width of the roll, which preferably has a width which corresponds to the entire width of the film cutting table, is set to a level which corresponds to the width of the abzunehmenden film blank.
The attachment of one edge of the foil blank to the roll for removing the foil blank from the cutting table can be done in any manner. It is particularly advantageous in the context of the invention, when the to be connected to the take-off roll edge of the film blank on the roll is determined by suppression.
For this purpose, in the peripheral wall (in the shell) of the (hollow) roller a number of oppressible openings can be provided. This series of openings extends in particular parallel to the axis of the roller.
The invention also provides that inside the roller sliders or the like are provided, which releases only the openings for the defogging, the width of the recorded film blank in the area to be detected and first determined on the take-off roller of the Foil cut correspond.

It can be seen from FIG. 1 that a film 3 placed on a film cutting table 1 has been divided into film blanks 7 while leaving waste edges 5 in accordance with a distribution scheme optimized for example by means of a computer program. In order to remove film blanks 7 from the film cutting table 1, a device 11 is provided which has a take-off roller 13 having a width substantially corresponding to the width of the film cutting table 1.
The take-off roller 13 is brought into position on an edge (edge region) of a sheet blank 7 to be removed by being adjusted parallel to the table surface and lowered perpendicular to the table surface. Once this is done, the take-off roller 13 with the below the take-off roller 13 lying (transverse) edge of the film blank 7, which is to be removed from the film cutting table 1, respectively.
For this purpose, in the embodiment shown in the jacket 15 of the take-off roller 13 an axially parallel row 17 of openings 19 is provided, which can be subjected to negative pressure. The interior of the hollow take-off roller 13 can be connected for example via its hollow shaft 21 to a vacuum source.
In order to adapt the effective width of the take-off roller 13, that is, the length of the region of the row 17 of openings 19, which are subjected to negative pressure, to the width of the film blank 7 to be removed, is in the embodiment shown in FIG. 2 in the interior the take-off roller 13, a slider 25 is provided which slidably bears against the inner surface of the jacket 15 of the take-off roller 13 and with respect to the jacket 15 (by a drive, not shown) is adjustable by rotation. Thus, it can be determined which of the openings 19 are subjected to negative pressure and which of the openings 19 are not subjected to negative pressure. This makes it possible to adapt the effective width of the take-off roller 13 to the width of the film blank 7.
The slider 25 may for example be a tubular slider element having an oblique edge 27, so that by rotating the slider 25 relative to the jacket 15 of the take-off roller 13 only the required number of openings 19 of the row 17 is released and subjected to negative pressure ,
Advantageously, in the method according to the invention for removing foil blanks 7 from the foil cutting table 1, the removal roller 13, after having been connected to the edge of the ablated foil blank 7, e.g. this edge has been sucked, is lifted slightly from the film cutting table 1, so that the film blank 7 is wound under tension on the take-off roller 13 by this is rotated, the take-off roller 13 parallel to the table surface of the film cutting table 1 on the abzunehmenden foil blank 7 is moved.

If films or film blanks which are tacky at room temperature are to be processed with the method according to the invention or the device according to the invention, it can be provided that the film cutting table 1 is arranged in a climatic chamber or simply with cooling of its support (table) surface is provided to keep the film 3 at a temperature, eg to cool down when she is no longer sticky.
In another embodiment, in order to adjust the effective width of the take-off roller 13, which has an axially parallel row 17 of depressurizable openings 19, a tube is rotatably arranged inside the take-off roller 13, the axially parallel rows of holes or slots with different Lengths. By rotating the inner tube, in each case the row of holes or the slot of the inner tube with openings 19 in the jacket 15 of the take-off roller 13 are aligned, so that in each case the number of openings 19 in the jacket 15 of the take-off roller 13 with the desired width is suppressed.

Claims 1. A method of picking blanks from sheets as used for making laminated glass from a cutting table, characterized in that at least one sheet blank is taken off the surface of the cutting table by being wound on a take-off roll.
